There are only nine questions on the census. They ask very basic demographic questions: who lives in the household; how they are related; their age, sex, and race; whether they own or rent their house; and their phone number. A sample census questionnaire is available on the census website.
What are the 2021 Census questions?
The 2021 census will ask you about your sex, age, ethnicity, health, education occupation and household size.
Do I have to answer census questions?
While participation in the census—and answering all questions—is mandatory, people occasionally leave a question blank. The Census Bureau uses a statistical procedure to fill in any missing responses.
Does the census ask for SSN?
The Census Bureau will never ask for your full Social Security number, bank account or credit card numbers, money or donations, or anything on behalf of a political party. Will there be a census 2021?
The next census in England and Wales will take place on 21 March 2021, and will be administered by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The census seeks to collect demographic information from all households and communal establishments. The 2021 census will be the first to be carried out primarily online.
Can you skip census questions?
The law (Title 13, Census, Chapter 7, Subchapter II) considers three levels of punishment: failure to answer a question carries a $100 fine. Giving false answers can result in a $500 fine, and giving information to deliberately affect the count can result in a $1,000 fine or up to a year in prison.
What happens if you don’t participate in the census?
According to information from the Census Bureau, it’s against the law not to complete the census. If you don’t fill it out, or if you answer any question incorrectly on purpose, you could theoretically face a penalty of up to $5,000.

Why does the census ask about my income?
We ask about income, the number and age of children in families, and health insurance status to help communities enroll eligible families in programs designed to assist them. Income data determines eligibility and funding in programs like Medicaid, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and Head Start.
Can you refuse to take part in the census?
If you do not fill in the census, a census officer will contact you and encourage you to complete it. If you still don’t return a completed census, you will be committing a crime and you will be contacted by our Non-Compliance team.
Why does the census not ask about income?
The Census Bureau cannot rely solely on other agencies’ data instead of your responses for several reasons: First, these data–called administrative records–do not contain the data for everyone. Second, we cannot obtain all of the required data from administrative records.
What if I made a mistake on the census?
Don’t worry if you’ve spelt something wrong. You can correct mistakes on your paper form. Block out the box with the mistake and carry on writing in the next box. If you’ve already posted the form back to us, we cannot return it to you.

It’s a Federal crime to refuse to answer any of the questions or to lie on the Census form.
What happens if I fill out the census twice?
What happens if more than one census form has been completed for my household? An ID number associated with each household’s form, which is used by the Census Bureau to avoid counting residents of a single household more than once. Duplicates from the same household are discarded.
